Learning about the States

Area Rug Map

When learning about the States we decided to start with Alaska. As we plan our year curriculum we will learn about animals and the capitals. This seemed to be a great idea, to have a rug to visualize the map in our heads. All the states have their respective fruits and capitals very colorful and handy.
I am using a text story on the books of Spectrum Reading Grade 1 as guide and adding a few things of my own.
